Mutant Claiming
  

  Like Mutant Pointing, Mutant Claiming only applies to sudoku puzzles of irregular box shape, as in the above example. If the only instances of a candidate within a row or column all share a unit with a candidate in a different row or column, you can eliminate that candidate that is outside of the row or column. Consider the example below. In the fourth column from the left the only two 5's do not share a box, but both share a unit with the 5 to the left. Thus that candidate 5 can be eliminated.


  Because this technique is odd in nature and somewhat difficult to spot, Sudoku Snake gives it a skill value of 30.
